Om Mathias Czaika (engelsk text):

Mathias Czaika is a University Professor in Migration and Integration and Head of the Department for Migration and Globalisation at Danube University, Krems, Austria. In this role, he is leading a team of more than 20 researchers and support staff, and he is also the Coordinator of the PhD Programme in Migration Studies. Mathias Czaika holds a master’s degree in Economics from University of Konstanz, and a PhD in Political Economy from University of Freiburg, Germany. After finishing his PhD in 2008, he worked as an economic policy analyst and advisor for the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) in Frankfurt, Germany. Between 2010 and 2017, he was a Senior Researcher and Associate Professor at the University of Oxford, UK. In 2016, he became director of the International Migration Institute at the University of Oxford. Mathias Czaika’s main research interests cover areas as wide as international migration processes, social transformations, globalization, development, poverty, and inequality; relative deprivation, aspirations, and migration decision making; migration policy formation, policy impact evaluation; labour migration, asylum and refugees.
