Om Birgit Heckemann

Birgit is a registered nurse and researcher with international experience. Originally from Germany, she lived and worked in the UK and France, before she found a permanent home in Sweden. She has a PhD in Nursing 91̽»¨ from the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands, where she explored patient and visitor aggression in general hospital nursing. Birgit earned an MSc in Research Methods and a BSc in Professional Practice from Thames Valley University (now University of West London) in London, UK. She currently works as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Health and Care 91̽»¨s, Gothenburg University, Sweden and as a Research Associate at the Department of Health Professions, Division of Nursing, Bern University of Applied 91̽»¨s, Bern, Switzerland. As a researcher, Birgit is particularly interested in developing her expertise in mixed-methods research. Her research topics include Aggression in Healthcare, Person-Centred Care and Design in Health.
