Forskning

In my research I study different aspects of modern Arabic literature. Apart from traditional literary history I take special interest in generic issues and translation studies. A current project is a study of the Swedish reception of Arabic literature in translation. Here, I try to analyse and describe the different translation trends, translation strategies and translation policies that have marked the translation of Arabic literature into Swedish during the last century. Other research interests are Arabic autobiography, recent trends in the Arabic novel and the role of literature during the “Arab spring”.
