Research project

Esaias °Õ±ð²µ²Ôé°ù's Sermons and Homilies - A Scientific Edition

Esaias °Õ±ð²µ²Ôé°ù was not only a poet, a professor of Greek and a politician, but also a priest and, later on, the bishop of the episcopate of Växjö. The aim of the project is to bring out an edition of all Esaias °Õ±ð²µ²Ôé°ù's sermons and homilies with a scholarly commentary included. It is also planned that the project will result in a monograph/volume XX?, which from a rhetorical, stylistic, theological and historico-cultural perspective discusses the different types of speeches °Õ±ð²µ²Ôé°ù made at ordinations, visitations and other services. The work is being done at the request of °Õ±ð²µ²Ôé°ùsamfundet ("The °Õ±ð²µ²Ôé°ù Society") within the framework of its edition of °Õ±ð²µ²Ôé°ù's complete works. The society has previously edited and published °Õ±ð²µ²Ôé°ùs letters, poems and secular speeches. The only thing missing to complete the edition are the sermons and homilies.
