About Gunilla Elise Priebe

My research focuses on how health is affected by various social processes and phenomena. I am leading a project, funded by the Swedish Research Council, entitled The importance of the health system's organization, social cohesion and health literacy for women's health and human rights in Angola. I collaborate, in this and in two related PhD projects, with researchers at , UGOT, and . I am also a co-researcher in the EMBRACE project (Embracing diversity in vulnerability - a multilevel intersectional study of communities’ vulnerability and public health institutions’ capability to cope with COVID-19 and future pandemics), funded by FORTE, which is also a collaboration between researchers at UGOT and KI.

Previous research includes health promotion initiatives for refugees, insurance medicine, and methods for anchoring research and development processes in affected communities, e.g. how public health science and medical research through community participation can increase its relevance and science role as a progressive force for a more democratic, inclusive and just society.

My dissertation in Theory of 91̽»¨ was a critical policy analysis of international malaria research (presented on the recognized web forum Malaria World).

In addition to research, I teach in our international global health master's program as well as in the public health program with a focus on equal health.
