About Marianne Dovemark

My main research interests are within the framework of educational ethnography, focusing on structural factors such as class, gender and ethnicity. My research is devoted to issues of power and influence, among other issues related to school governance and market orientation. Issues of particular interest are aspects of power and democracy in relation to how responsibility, flexibility and freedom of choice can be described and understood. Theoretically I belong to a critical tradition, methodological, in critical ethnography. Currently I am part of the ongoing research project: "Inclusive and competitive? Upper secondary schools in the intersection of social inclusion and marketization " funded by the Swedish Research Council. I am part of the research environment PAGE (Power and Agency in Education) at the Department of Education and Special Education at the University 91Ě˝»¨. I am also a member of Team 2 of the Centre of Excellence "Justice through education in the Nordic countries" funded by NordForsk (2013 to 2018).
