About Mathias Färdigh

Mathias A. Färdigh holds a PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication and is Lecturer at the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication (JMG) and Research Fellow at the (QoG), Department of Political 91̽, University 91̽. He defended his PhD thesis in December 2013.

Background

He has a MA in Political 91̽ and a BA in Media and Communication Studies.

Research Areas

Färdigh’s research at the QoG Institute and JMG is focused on different aspects of the relationship between media and quality of government.

Färdigh is also interested in press freedom, corruption, media effects, newspaper readership, political communication and public opinion.

Teaching and tutoring

Färdigh teaches on several courses at basic and andvanced level within the journalist programme, media and communication studies, political science, and global studies. His teaching focuses mainly on quantitative methods, comparative studies and supervising thesis.

Färdigh is course coordinator of the courses ”Research on Journalism” (JU1141), ”Reviewing Journalism” (JU1532) at the journalism program and of the master course ”Media, Journalism and Global Studies” (SF2223), a collaboration between JMG and the School of Global Studies.
