About Proshant Chakraborty
I am a doctoral candidate in Social Anthropology. In my PhD project, I seek to examine practices of care, repair and maintenance of Mumbai鈥檚 urban public transport infrastructures. Prior to joining the School of Global Studies, I was a practicing and applied anthropologist based in Mumbai, India. I have obtained a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Anthropology from St Xavier鈥檚 College (Autonomous), Mumbai in 2013, and a master's degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from KU Leuven in 2016. My previous research experience includes monitoring and evaluation studies on public health, HIV/AIDS advocacy and interventions, migration and labor, and prevention of violence against women and girls in urban poor neighborhoods. My other research interests include feminist theory, urban anthropology, social work, social justice and activism, and decolonial theory. I have also taught, coordinated, and facilitated anthropology-themed classes at the undergraduate level.
