The course is a basic course in human geography. It can be taken as a stand-alone course and is also included in the Social Analysis Program in Economic History and Human Geography, and as an optional specialization in the Social and Environmental 91探花s Program. The course can be included in the following programs: 1) Social and Environmental 91探花s Program (S1SMI) and 2) Social Analysis Program in Economic History and Human Geography (S1SAP)

Content
The course introduces economics as a central concept for problematizing the geographical distribution of resources, wealth and consumption. The focus is on how economic relations connect scales, from the global to the local, in different parts of the world. The course deals with societal transformation based on sectoral categories such as agriculture, industry and services. Particular attention is paid to issues surrounding global production networks and the connection to regional and local development.
Objectives
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
聽Knowledge and understanding
1. Explain globalization processes using basic economic-geographical concepts.
Skills and abilities
2. Use concepts and theoretical reasoning from the course literature in mapping and analyzing concrete current social issues. Especially with a focus on resource allocation problems, international production and consumption systems and global trade patterns.
Evaluation skills and approach
3. Account for and critically examine geographic aspects of economic development at different scale levels from the global to the local.

Examination formats
The learning outcomes are examined through a written examination. If a student who has failed the same examination component twice wishes to change examiners for the next examination, such a request must be submitted in writing to the department responsible for the course and approved unless there are special reasons to the contrary (HF Chapter 6 搂 22). In the event that a course has been discontinued or has undergone major changes, the student shall normally be guaranteed access to at least three examination opportunities (including the regular examination opportunity) over a period of at least one year based on the course's previous structure.
Grades
The course is graded as Excellent (A), Very Good (B), Good (C), Satisfactory (D), Adequate (E) and Fail (F). The grade for the course as a whole is based on the student's results in the written exam and is set in relation to an established grading scale.
Course evaluation
Course evaluation is carried out at the end of the course. The results and any changes in the course structure should be communicated both to the students who carried out the evaluation and to the students who will begin the course.
Other regulations
The equality aspect is taken into account in content, literature and evaluation. International conditions are taken into account in content and literature. The course uses a digital learning platform. Therefore, access to a computer and the internet is required. The course may not be included in the degree together with KGG101 or KGG2EP.
