Full-day symposium: Documentation of artistic research
The Konstpiloten project explored how artistic higher education institutions define and use research data. On October 2, 2025, a national symposium will be held as a continuation of a previous conference at KTH. The symposium will focus on the documentation of artistic research in a broader context, aiming to lay the foundation for an international conference in 2026.
Background: The project Konstpiloten by SND, the Swedish National Data Service, was an investigation of the definition and use of 'research data' in artistic research. Together with Karin W. Tikkanen and Lisa Isaksson, who led the work on Konstpiloten, we are now planning a national symposium on October 2, 2025.
The symposium on October 2 in Gothenburg is a follow-up to the , Stockholm on October 15, 2024, where artistic research data was discussed. In the symposium, the aim is to discuss documentation in a larger context by taking the entire artistic research process into account: In what ways, can you as a researcher, place yourself in a larger context and connect to the work and research of others? How to handle your own documentation of the research process, to make it possible for someone else to continue working on the same research question?
The program is not yet set, but it is clear that the day will include presentations and discussions about concrete examples.
The idea is that the lessons learned from the conference at KTH and the symposium at GU will form the basis for a larger international conference in early 2026.
