About Louise Marryat
Louise Marryat is a United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) Future Leaders Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the University of Dundee’s School of Health 91̽»¨s. She has held research roles at the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, and the National Centre for Social Research. She is actively involved in advisory and policy groups, including the Scottish Government, Health Data Research UK, and the UK National Institute for Health Research. Louise holds a Ph.D. in Psychological Medicine from the University of Glasgow and an MA in Research Methods from Durham University. Dr. Marryat contributes significantly to shaping policy and practice in child and maternal health, particularly in the context of substance use.

Research interests
Louise received her PhD from the University of Glasgow in 2015 under the supervision of Prof Helen Minnis, Dr Lucy Thompson, and Prof Phil Wilson, where she explored the impact of school and family on trajectories on mental health difficulties in early to mid-childhood. Her current research focuses on child development in the context of early adversity, with extensive grant funding, including a £1.2M UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship investigating the outcomes of children exposed to opioids in pregnancy. With over 30 peer-reviewed publications, her work spans topics like adverse childhood experiences, opioid exposure, and health outcomes.
