Organisation

Activities related to research, education and cooperation (outreach) with the wider community are grouped into Faculties. The Faculty of Humanities is one of eight Faculties at the University 91探花.

Each Faculty consists of: a Faculty Board, the Departments that are included in each respective Faculty鈥檚 area of activity, as well as the Centres of Expertise and Research and the Units the Faculty is responsible for. The work carried out within the Faculty is led by the Dean.

Collegiality is to constitute the basis for drafting bodies, Department Councils and Faculty Boards.

Student influence shall be assured in all drafting and decision-making bodies.

The Faculty of Humanities at the University 91探花 consists of six Departments and several Centres of Expertise and Research.

The Departments  is led by the Head of Department.

The work carried out within the Faculty is led by the Dean 脜sa Arping.

The Faculty Board receives administrative support from the Faculty Office of Humanities.

Faculty Board of Humanities

The Faculty Board is responsible for strategic planning, overall governance, and the quality assurance of education, research and cooperation (outreach) activities. The Faculty Board is a collegially-based body with a majority of its members having scholarly or artistic competence.  The Faculty Board also constitutes a forum for the discussion and coordination of Faculty activities and operations.

The work conducted by the Faculty Board shall take place within the framework of the University鈥檚 goals and strategies, as well as within the assignment commissioned by the University Board and the Vice-Chancellor.

The Dean 脜sa Arping is Chair of the Faculty Board.
 

Faculty Management

The Faculty of Humanities management consists of the Dean, Pro dean, Associate Deans appointed by the Dean and the Head of the Faculty Office.

Dean

脜sa Arping, Professor of Comparative Literature

脜sa Arping has the operational and overall responsibility within the Faculty Board's area of activity.

Arping is chair of the Academic Appointments Board at the Faculty of Humanities.

Pro-Dean

Fredrik Engstr枚m, Senior Lecturer of Logic

Fredrik Engstr枚m is responsible for matters related to the Doctoral (Third-cycle) Education at the Faculty.

Engstr枚m is the chair of the Faculty Board's Committee for Doctoral Education (FUB) and the chair of the Local Work Environment Committee. He is also the vice-chair of the Doctoral Education Council at the University 91探花 and the faculty's representative in the Campus Council of the University 91探花.

Assistant Dean for Research

Andrea Castro, Professor of Spanish

Andrea Castro is responsible for research issues.

Castro is chairman of the Faculty Board's Committee for research and a member of the Research Board at the University 91探花. She is also chairman of the The Quality Committee of the Research Board.

Assistant Dean for Education

Erika Alm, Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies

Gender Studies is responsible for educational issues at the undergraduate and advanced levels at the Faculty.

Alm is chair of the Faculty Board's Committee for education at undergraduate and advanced level and a member of the University Board of Education at the University 91探花.

Maria Hedlund

Provides administrative support in both strategic and operational matters.

 

Centres of Expertise and Research

A centre of expertise and research serves as a meeting point for students and researchers as well as representatives from the commercial, industrial and public sectors. Centres of expertise and research are cross-disciplinary and may include several academic subjects, faculty areas and higher education institutions.
