Queering Dementia Symposium

The international network Critical Dementia Studies is organising the symposium ‘Queering dementia’ 2025. The Nordic Gender Fund contributes to the costs of the symposium.

The international network Critical Dementia Studies is organising the symposium ‘Queering dementia’ on 25-27 June 2025, adjacent to the British Society of Gerontology's annual conference in Surrey.

The Nordic Gender Fund is contributing to the organisational costs of the symposium, which aims to highlight ongoing research on LGBTQ people's lived experiences of dementia and on gender and sexuality in person-centred care.

The symposium provides a platform for the development of theoretical and methodological discussions between researchers in queer and trans studies and dementia research. It also provides an opportunity for PhD students to discuss and present work in progress related to the symposium topic, and highlights the voices of queer activists and advocates with personal experience of dementia.
