Digitization and changing business models in the retail trade
Short description
E- and m-commerce has greatly increased in recent years, and a seismic shift in trade and consumption patterns are imminent. The physical stores are still the most common trading place, but the stores have to relate to the digitization to not be left behind. The goal is to develop and increase understanding of digitization and the changes it induces in the retail sector. This is to help trade firms and employees to take advantage of digitization opportunities and ultimately create the conditions for sustainable growth and profitability.
The project plans to develop and test a number of new concepts for retail, look at changes in commodity flows and examine what new conditions and tasks this might imply and how to organize themselves around these challenges. The study will be conducted in three different sub-projects with a combination of various methods such as interviews and observations.
Retail digitization and changing business models is one of five projects included in the Swedish Retail and Wholesale Development Council initiative 'E-commerce, information technology and trade digitization ".
