Short description

Ultra-processed foods have undergone extensive industrial processing and are suggested to affect our health negatively by affecting satiety and risk factors for non-communicable disease. Although there are associations between a high intake of ultra-processed foods and many non-communicable diseases, it is unclear whether these associations are explained by the degree of food processing or other factors, such as nutrient content or energy density of the food. The overall aim of our research is to compare the effects of a matched high or low intake of ultra-processed foods on cardiometabolic health and dietary biomarkers.
