Management, sustainability, diversity and consumption - four themes permeate GRI's research.
Scandinavian Management is characterised by a focus on processes, learning and close cooperation between managers and employees. Ongoing projects include, for example:
- Bank Management and risk management in banks
- Governance and interorganisational collaboration
- Employee engagement, creativity and innovation

20 years ago we started pioneering research in green management and today we study sustainability from several perspectives, including:
- Waste management in cities
- Risk communication by public authorities
- Sustainable food consumption
- Sustainable tourism / Sustainable tourism
In the area of diversity, we study issues related to gender, ethnicity and age. Examples of various ongoing studies are:
- Integration of newcomers

Since 2001, multidisciplinary research on consumption has been conducted at the Centre for Consumption Research (CFK) at GRI. The researchers at CFK examine, among other things:
- How digital technologies such as smartphones affect consumers
- Logistics and consumption patterns
- Consumers' views on food alarms and risk
