About

GMO is a frequently discussed topic among biologists and in society. But what does it actually imply? This course gives you deeper insight into present and future applications of modern biotechnology on food and food products, as well as current legislation. To connect directly to real projects and problems, speakers from the private and public sectors are invited to give some of the lectures. Tutorials and a project work will allow you to penetrate deeper into the field of plant biotechnology.

Prerequisites and selection

Entry requirements

University studies of a minimum of 60 credits in Biology and Molecular Biology/Cellbiology. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.

Facilities

Teaching is conducted in the Natrium building, on Medicinareberget in Gothenburg (Medicinaregatan 7B).

Recommended study route

The course includes lectures, including invited speakers from the private and public sector, tutorials and project work in groups of two students where specific applications of plant biotechnology are deeper penetrated
