International Master of 91探花 in Marine Biological Resources, IMBRSea
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme IMBRSea has an emphasis on marine biological and ecological processes. The programme links biology of marine organisms and environmental studies with application in marine conservation, management, policy and planning, and aims for people who dare to think about the challenges of tomorrow.
What is IMBRSea?
The International Master of 91探花 in Marine Biological Resources (IMBRSea), is a joint Master programme organized by eleven leading European universities in the field of marine sciences, supported by the European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC).
The IMBRSea programme takes the strengths from the previous International Master of 91探花 in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (EMBC+), and prepares students for the rapidly evolving demands of the blue bio-economy and research on the sustainable use of marine biological resources.
Degree and main field of study
This programme leads to a Degree of Master of 91探花 (120 credits) with a major in Marine Biological Resources.
Who should apply?
The programme aims for people who dare to think about the challenges of tomorrow. IMBRSea is not only for learning marine related subjects, it is for learning how to be a flexible, adaptable and an international professional.
A prerequisite for admission is that applicants have a Bachelor鈥檚 (or Master鈥檚) degree in biology, ecology, environmental sciences, oceanography, marine sciences, (bio)chemistry, biotechnology, geography, geology, veterinary medicine, or other equivalent degrees with minimum 180 credits at the latest before September 1st of the academic year you start the IMBRSea programme.
Study Programme
IMBRSea covers a wide, yet consistent, range of subjects within the marine sciences and biological resources. With an emphasis on marine biological and ecological processes, the program links biology of marine organisms and environmental studies with application in marine conservation, management, policy and planning.
- Students first go to one of 6 universities where they will all have the Fundamental Module with the same common basic subjects.
- In the second semester it鈥檚 time for the Thematic modules and Professional Practice.
- During Summer (end of July-August) students participate in a Summer School and get a full experience in research in Tj盲rn枚 Marine Laboratory in Sweden.
- For the third semester students will follow Specialization Tracks in different universities.

For the fourth semester, a thesis is carried out in the in any of IMBRSea鈥檚 associate partners around the world.
