The courses at the advanced level in economics are applied for individually.
NEK308 is given during the bachelor's semester in the autumn semester together with NEK306 and NEK316.

The overall goal of the course Portfolio Investment (NEK308) is to provide an introduction to fundamental portfolio theory. This includes, among other things, CAPM and APT analysis of asset pricing and how it is used to evaluate portfolio performance. It also introduces the valuation of derivative instruments, including options, futures, forward contracts, and swaps, and their various uses for risk diversification and speculation purposes. The course includes practical sessions in computer labs that cover data collection and data analysis. This aims to provide students with practical skills in applied portfolio theory and portfolio management.
Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
Admission to the course requires a minimum of 45 credits in Economics at basic- and intermediate level with a passing grade.
Prior knowledge equivalent to 15 credits in statistics is recommended.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
After graduation
The job market for economists is good. Within many qualified jobs in the private and public sectors, a good ability to analyze complex socio-economic issues is required. Through studies in economics, you get tools to collect, analyze and interpret data. Our students are in demand on the labor market and work for, among others, major Swedish banks, Volvo, Swedbank, the Swedish Tax Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the University 91̽»¨.
Another possibility is to go for a research career. The Department of Economics at the University 91̽»¨ conducts research in a wide range of areas, such as environmental economics, financial economics, development economics and behavioral economics.
Facilities
Most of the Business School's operations are located at Vasagatan 1, but we also have premises at Viktoriagatan 13. The premises at Vasagatan 1 house the financial library, which is several floors high and has many study places.
