In the course English 1 for Teachers in Year 4-6, theories about
children's learning and language development are presented and
discussed. Language didactic research and goals for learning and
teaching English as a foreign language will be focused both on national
and on international level. The communicative, functional approach in
the school syllabus for English is analysed and various forms of
assessment and documentation of students' learning are
discussed. Aesthetic learning processes are highlighted in the course.
The theoretical knowledge of phonetics and literature are integrated
with didactic aspects of the oral communicative ability and the reading
ability.
