About Katarina Nordblom

My research interests are in public and behavioral economics. I have conducted research on Swedish taxes as well on social preferences. One area in which I have focused lately is tax compliance, where I combine knowledge from the two research fields. In one of my published my coauthors and I study how people behave when filing their tax returns and find strong evidence of loss aversion, where people with taxes due are more likely to take measures to reduce their tax liability than those who expect to get a refund. In ongoing research I study tax morale and how individual as well as social norms evolve over time and how tax policy may affect them. I do both theoretical and empirical research, but all of my research either is concerned with policy relevant issues and/or tries to understand new aspects of individual behavior and decision making.
