Area of research interest
My general research interest is on the political aspects of human rights, that is, how different actors perceive and use the ethical and legal norms and rules that the human rights system covers. A related research interest is rights-based policies and the implementation of human rights in practice.
Previous Research Projects
My thesis work focused on how the Swedish parliament used and related to the two international discourses on indigenous proples' rights and minority rights, and what impact those discourses have had on Swedish Sami policy. In a releated research project I did research on how states used the principles of state sovereignty and peoples’ right to self-determination in the case of Kosovo.
In the project Discourse and Security Practice, we researched how human rights and democratic values inform and influence the development of information security systems. The project included two sub-studies. The first sub-study focussed on the web-based e-health account HälsaFörMig (HealthForMe) developed by the Swedish eHealth Agency on behalf of the Ministry of Social Affairs. HälsaFörMig acted as a hub to identify discourses and value conflicts in the eHealth sector in Sweden. The second sub-study focused on attitudes to Whistleblowing and the Freedom to disclose information among white collar workers in the private and public sectors in Sweden. The project was part of the research program Security Culture and Information Technology () funded by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB).
Current research
During the period 2019-2023 I am engaged in the research project financed by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). My focus within this project is on the view on Whistleblowing in Swedish organisations, and the design of whistleblowing functions. The research project is a collaboration between researchers at University 91̽»¨, Örebro University, KTH and Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI).
During 2022-2024 I am engaged in the research project Litigating land rights in Sápmi: Indigenous legal mobilization in Finland, Norway and Sweden financed by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
Current assignments
- Chair person for the Human Rights Subject Council (Ämnesråd)
- Member of SGS' Education Council (Utbildningssråd)
