About Therése Julia Iréne Skoog

Therése Skoog is a full professor of Psychology and excellent teacher pracitioner at the Department of Psychology, University 91̽»¨. She is Vice-Dean with responsibility for undergraduate and graduate education at the Faculty of Social 91̽»¨s and a member of the Education Committee. Professor Skoog is also chair of the PIL Unit Council (Unit for Pedagogical Development and Interactive Learning). In 2021-2023, she was project manager for a higher education pedagogical development project ‘Sustainable and accessible learning environments’ at the Faculty of Social 91̽»¨s.

From 2002 to 2017, Professor Skoog was affiliated with Örebro University. From 2015 to 2018, she was employed part-time as associate professor at the Department of Psychology at the Norwegian University of 91̽»¨ and Technolog in Trondheim. She has also participated in a teacher exchange programme at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona (2015). In 2014, Professor Skoog was awared the best female educator award by students at Örebro University.

Professor Skoog conducts basic research on young people's psychosocial development and adjustment from a biopsychosocial perspective. She conducts applied research on prevention, promotion and implementation, often together with practitioners and other stakeholders from schools, social services and the non-profit sector. Professor Skoog is a member of the research groups GRID (Gothenburg Research In Developmental Psychology), and LoRDIA (Longitudinal Research on Adolescence). She is the project leader of several research projects on sexual harassment among adolescents. She is currently supervising one post-doc and several PhD students at Gothenburg and Örebro Universities and Chalmers University of Technology.

Professor Skoog was Section Editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology (2021-2024) and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Youth and Adolescence. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Prevention Research.

Professor Skoog continuously interacts with the surrounding society through various research collaborations, consulting assignments, expert assignments and lectures, mainly related to child and adolescent development and psychosocial interventions. She has acted as reviewer and chair for a variety of national and international research calls, including for Forte, the Danish Trygfonden and the Norwegian Research Council. She is also a frequently engaged expert for external organisations such as the National Board of Health and Welfare, the Swedish Agency for Medical and Social Research and the Ombudsman for Children.

Professor Skoog is the author of the prevention programme My Choice - My Way! prevention programme for young people in out-of-home care.
