91̽»¨ is the only university in Sweden that offers marine science courses in biology, chemistry, geology, and oceanography.

As a student of the Marine 91̽»¨s, you will perform your study tasks not only in the city 91̽»¨, but also at the research field stations Tjärnö and Kristineberg, and on board the University’s research vessels. The marine research at the University 91̽»¨ is prominent in several research fields, and all teaching is done by active researchers. We offer a dynamic and interdisciplinary setting, with students, teachers and researchers from all over the world. Our teaching is student-centred, and problem-based field work plays an important part in our teaching.

Our programmes and courses

We have three Master's Programmes that are open to international students with a Bachelors degree or the equivalent: Marine 91̽»¨, Sea and Society, and Physical Oceanography. We offer courses with a marine profile in biology, oceanography, chemistry, and geology.

Our study facilities

The Department of Marine 91̽»¨s has study facilities in Gothenburg, but also teaching on the marine research stations Tjärnö and Kristineberg, and on the research vessel R/V Skagerak.
